Non-Profit Status

Great Wave Zen Sangha is organized under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code as a non-profit charity.  Like other religious organizations, its ability to perpetuate the Buddha’s teaching is entirely dependent upon your generosity.  Freewill donations (known as dana in the Buddhist tradition) are therefore encouraged and gratefully received.  Feel free to visit our Dana Page.

Event Costs

Great Wave requests payment for several types of events (but not all).  As you can see in the table below, dues-paying members of Great Wave receive significant discounts on events costs.  Their dues allow us to keep costs low, making our events accessible for as many people as possible.

If You Can’t Afford an Event

If you cannot afford to pay for an event, you may still attend one.  The Sangha will make every effort to ensure that no one will be denied access for financial reasons.  Simply register for the event and you will find options to request a full scholarship or to pay a partial amount.

Likewise, if you cannot afford regular monthly membership dues but want to contribute something, it is possible to make one-time donations of any amount and at your convenience by visiting our Dana page or by writing a check.  Checks should be made payable to Great Wave Zen Sangha and sent to
