Cost

There is no requirement to make offerings or to purchase materials. Like most other Zen centers, however, Great Wave is dependent upon donations (known as Dana in the Buddhist tradition) to support itself. So, while practicing with Great Wave does not cost anything per se, we nevertheless would appreciate any and all donations. Donations are tax-deductible as we are an IRS-recognized religious organization.

We do request donations of certain amounts for those who participate in Sesshin (multi-day retreat). Currently, the donation amount for sesshin is $40 per night for Sangha members, $60 for non-members. The donation amount for Zazenkai (one-day retreats) is $60. Retreat dana is sometimes higher when our teacher is present. Generally speaking, $30 is considered a non-refundable deposit. If you are unable to offer a donation for a retreat, please contact us. No one will be denied access for financial reasons.

If you would like to make a donation to Great Wave, please visit our Dana page.

We sincerely appreciate your willingness to help out.
