Great Wave Zen Sangha Joins World Community Grid

This month, the members of the Great Wave Zen Sangha have joined computing forces with thousands of other ordinary computer users to solve world problems. Known as community computing, the work utilizes idle computer time to help scientists create computer models of such things as disease demographics and climate–models that no single research institution could afford to do on its own.

However, when thousands of people all over the world add their idle computer time together, the result is a planetary “super computer” capable of calculating billions of equations. According to World Community Grid, “ World Community Grid’s mission is to create the largest public computing grid benefiting humanity. Our work is built on the belief that technological innovation combined with visionary scientific research and large-scale volunteerism can change our world for the better. Our success depends on individuals – like you – collectively contributing their unused computer time to this not-for-profit endeavor.
